Public Awareness Initiatives

Raising public awareness about the dangers of poisoning and promoting safe practices is one of the Indian Society of Clinical Toxicology’s (ISCT) core objectives. Through a variety of public awareness initiatives, the ISCT works to educate communities across India on how to prevent, recognize, and respond to toxicological emergencies.

The ISCT conducts community outreach programs, workshops, and public health campaigns to raise awareness about common household toxins, such as pesticides, cleaning chemicals, and medicines, as well as the dangers of snakebites and chemical exposures. These initiatives focus on practical steps that individuals and families can take to prevent poisonings, such as proper storage of chemicals, safe use of household products, and early recognition of poisoning symptoms.

Additionally, the society produces informative materials such as pamphlets, posters, and online resources in multiple languages to ensure that information reaches diverse populations. Special attention is given to rural areas, where the incidence of poisoning is higher, and access to timely medical care may be limited.

By empowering the public with knowledge about poison prevention and first-aid measures, the ISCT aims to reduce the incidence of poisoning cases, improve early detection, and ultimately save lives. Through these efforts, the ISCT hopes to create a safer environment for individuals, families, and communities across India.
